Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps introduced on Wednesday (26/2/2025) the Pesantren Sahabat Lalu Lintas program, aiming to instill road safety discipline among students (santri) in Islamic boarding schools.
“The program seeks to raise awareness and compliance with traffic regulations among santri, who are expected to set an example in traffic discipline,” said Traffic Corps Chief Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, as quoted by antaranews.com.
Traffic officers will collaborate with Islamic boarding schools to provide education on road safety and responsible driving.
Nawawi Maksum, the Head of Nurut Taqwa Islamic Boarding School in Bondowoso, East Java, welcomed the initiative. He said that santri, who often use motorcycles for daily activities, should wear helmets, avoid reckless driving, and serve as role models in their communities.
