Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar. Dewa Made Indra, Secretary of the Bali administration, emphasized the importance of following proper licensing procedures for prospective investors planning projects on the Island of Bali.

"Investors should strictly adhere to existing regulations. The investment process involves obtaining the necessary permits and fulfilling administrative requirements, so it's crucial to comply with them," Dewa Indra said on Monday (6/5/2024).

HIs response followed the Friday’s arrest of Ketut Riana, the traditional village chief (Bendesa) of Berawa, Badung Regency, who was arrested by the Bali Prosecutor's Office for an alleged extortion case against investors.

The Bali Prosecutor’s Office seized evidence including Rp100 million in cash, a Fortuner vehicle, and two mobile phones, according to antaranews.com.

Dewa Indra clarified that traditional village chiefs are responsible for implementing community agreements and upholding customary regulations, not licensing matters, which are overseen by licensing agencies.

He highlighted the importance of ensuring that investments in traditional areas bring positive environmental impacts and benefit local communities.

Expressing regret over the incident, the Bali administration supports prompt action by the Bali Prosecutor's Office to prevent negative impacts on future investments in Bali.
