Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Jakarta Health Office reminds the prospective pilgrim to do exercise in plane to relax their muscles and blood flow after sitting for a long time towards Mecca.

“While in the plane, what might be dangerous for us is that we do not move for nine hours. This is the reason why small exercises are necessary,” said Staff of Hajj Program Management of Jakarta Health Office, Ervien Ritandi Edwin on Tuesday (5/7/2024).

Ervien says that the exercise will allow blood flow from legs to return to the heart and would prevent blockages or blood clots in the veins. The medical term for this issue is DVT or deep vein thrombosis which commonly happens around thighs and calves.

Several other symptoms that should be watched over are swelling pain or cramping and tingling in the leg area. The small exercise referred to by the Ministry of Health is stretching the head, hands, shoulders, waist and legs.

The ministry recommends for people during travel, including the pilgrims, if they have been traveling or sitting for around four hours.
