Inp.polri.go.id – Jambi. The Head of Jambi Regional Police, Inspector General Rusdi Hartono invites religious figures, and local figures to actively support the police in avoiding their people from the sway of online gambling.

“Online gambling is a parasite that concerns us currently. And for that, during our meeting at Siginjai National House recently, I invited religious figures and local figures in Jambi to help us protect our people from online gambling,” said Inspector General Rusdi Hartono on Thursday (4/25/2024).

Rusdi says the issue of online gambling has become a serious issue that needs to be studied and prevented together. The negative impact of online gambling is too much as the data shows 2.7 million people in Indonesia are already addicted to online gambling.

Rusid says that for handling conventional, usual gambling, his unit can handle it quite easily. However the same case cannot be said with online gambling.

“By downloading the application of online gambling, they can already join the bet, either in the bedroom, under the trees, literally everywhere. Moreover, when we banned one online gambling site, dozens more came up. On the other hand, when they did not have the money, they did not need to go to the bank, they could straight up lend the money from an online loan and use it for online gambling,” explained Rusdi in his closing statement.
