inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo inaugurates part of the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road infrastructure in North Sumatra.

In his remarks, Jokowi says the toll road section is the Binjai-Langsa Toll Road Section 2  Stabat-Tanjung Pura. The construction of the 26.2 km toll road section was started in 2020 and costs the government IDR 11.6 trillion.

In addition, Jokowi also inaugurates the 45.6 km of Kuala Tanjung-Tebing Tinggi-Parapat Toll Road Section 3 and 4 which the construction has begun since 2018 and costs IDR 6 trillion.

“These toll roads will be part of the 2,994 km Trans-Sumatra Toll Road and we hope by the end of the year we can complete the toll road progress to 1,100 km,” says Jokowi on Tuesday (9/10/2024).

He says that previously it would take around 3.5 - 4 hours to reach Medan, and now it would only take 1.5 hours. Jokowi believes that the presence of the toll road will push the growth of the new economy in Binjai-Langsa and Tebing Tinggi-Parapat corridors while also improving the regional logistic system.

Moreover, the mobility of people and logistics will be faster “And we can compete with other states,” concludes Jokowi.
