inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Head of Human Rights National Commission (Komnas HAM), Atnike Nova Sigiro says that her institution will be involved directly in handling the death of Tribrata TV journalist in Karo Regency, North Sumatra.

In her statement, she says that on July 12th and 13th, Komnas HAM has done field and witness examinations at the location. Moreover, Komnas HAM also investigates the cause of the fire that burns the journalist’s house.

“Komnas HAM have examined eight witnesses and reviewed the location in Kabanjahe, Karo Regency, North Sumatra,” said Atnike on Thursday (7/18/2024).

Komnas HAM's next step is to continue to coordinate with North Sumatra Regional Police and Bukit Barisan Military Police Detachment (Denpom) to ask for information on the law enforcement process in this case.

“Komnas HAM also coordinates with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to strengthen the protection of witnesses and victims," ​​she said.

On the other hand, Komnas HAM appreciates North Sumatra Regional Police who has given their best in investigating the death of journalist Rico Sempurna Pasaribu.

“We want a fair and transparent justice for all the perpetrators, both the one who did it and those behind the curtains,” said Atnike.
