Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has detained the Mayor of Bima Muhammad Lutfi  for his alleged involvement in the corruption case linked to the procurement of goods and services, as well as the acceptance of gratuities within the Bima City administration in West Nusa Tenggara. KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri said that Mayor Lutfi's detention started fromfrom October 5 to October 24, 2023, at the KPK Detention Center, allowing for a thorough investigation. He explained that the corruption case against the mayor started when he and his  close family member initiated various projects executed by the Bima City administration in 2019. To facilitate these projects, Mayor Lutfi requisitioned project documents from the Public Works and Housing Agency and the Regional Agency for Disaster Countermeasure  of the Bima City administration. Exploiting his position, he directed officials at both agencies to develop high-budget projects, with preparations carried out at his official residence. As a result, substantial sums were allocated to projects by both agences during the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Mayor Lutfi personally handpicked contractors to win project auctions, essentially rendering the process a mere formality. Consequently, the winning contractors failed to meet the specified qualification requirements. In return for this favor, he received a deposit of USD 580,000 from the winning contractors, which included funds for the Nungga Toloweri Road widening and the procurement of electricity and street lighting for public housing in Oi'Foo. These funds were subsequently directed to bank accounts associated with his associates, including family members. KPK investigators have uncovered evidence suggesting that Mayor Lutfi received monetary gratuities from multiple parties. The investigative team will persist in pursuing additional leads.
