The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has praised Indonesia’s the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) for its commitment and professionalism in tackling drug trafficking across the country during a bilateral meeting held at the 2024 International Drug Enforcement Conference (IDEC) in Athens, Greece.
“We greatly appreciate BNN’s dedication and hard work in combating drug threats. Our cooperation has led to several successful operations,” said DEA Special Agent in Charge, John Scott, in s statement on Friday (27/9/2024).
The meeting focused on joint strategies to address new drug trafficking challenges. Both agencies agreed to strengthen intelligence sharing and enhance personnel capabilities to combat the evolving tactics of international drug networks, as reported by antaranews.com.
BNN Chief Commissioner General Marthinus Hukom expressed his gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to international partnerships, highlighting past successes in dismantling transnational drug syndicates.
The DEA and BNN also agreed to increase joint training and operational coordination to ensure future law enforcement efforts are even more effective.
IDEC 2024, held from 23 to 26 September 2024, brought together representatives from 132 countries to discuss global drug trafficking, with a particular focus on the growing threat of synthetic drugs.
