Ma’ruf Amin Visits Papua to Inspect the Acceleration of Papua Special Autonomy Development

The Indonesian Vice President Ma’ruf Amin, as the Head of Steering Committee for the Acceleration of Papua Special Autonomy (BP3OKP) will visit the eastern part of Indonesia, to monitor the development in Papua Province, Papua Mountain Province, and South Papua Province. His four days visit began in October 9th and ends in October 13th. “On this visit, the vice president will ensure the development of Papua Special Autonomy in their commitment to ensure human rights, especially for the indigenous Papuans,” says the Vice President spoke person Masduki Baidlowi on Monday (9/10/2023). “The vice president would also focus on security approach sector while also pushing the National Sport Grand Design program to be implemented by athletes, public figures, and people of Papua,” said Masduki. On October 10th, Ma’ruf Amin would also focus on office duties at Papua Governor Office on several agendas. The agendas include accepting an audience from human rights and peace activist figures, also indigenous Papuan business leaders. “And led the Coordination Meeting of BP3OKP regarding Integrated Security and Welfare Approaches in Papua," explained the Vice President's Spokesperson. On the next day, the vice president has several schedules to visit Papua Bangkit Stadium, Jayapura, Papua. He would inspect to inspect and attend the Complete Systematic Land Registration acceptance certificate. Furthermore, he would also attend the laying and signing of the first stone for facilities and infrastructure in the Papua Mountain Province and South Papua Provincial Government Office. Ma’ruf Amin would also ensure the governance in Papua is going smoothly ahead the 2024 Elections. “This visit shows his commitment and focus in supporting President Joko Widodo in preparing Indonesia after their departure,” says the spoke person.
