Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. Medan City Sub-regional Police foiled the shipment of 5.7 kilograms of dried marijuana via a delivery service in Medan, North Sumatra.
“On Thursday, we received a report from the delivery service about a suspicious package containing narcotics,” said Senior Inspector Adrian Rizky Lubis, the Head of the Medan Police Narcotics Unit, on Sunday (8/9/2024).
With assistance from the military, the police launched an investigation at two locations: Bandar Khalipah in Deli Serdang, and Jalan Menteng Raya in Medan, according to antaranews.com.
The investigation led to the discovery of 10 packages of marijuana hidden in motorcycle spare parts. Four suspects, identified: MM (22), RM (23), I (23), and MSM (19), all residents of Medan and Deli Serdang, were arrested.
The suspects admitted to having sent marijuana packages to other cities 10 times before, including Jakarta, Lampung, and Pekanbaru.
They face charges under the Narcotics Law, with potential life imprisonment or death penalty sentences.
