inp.polri.go.id - Papua. Papua Regional Police reports there are three cities in Indonesia that became the biggest drug supplier for Papua. The three cities are Jakarta, Surabaya, and Makassar.
The Director of Drug Investigation of Papua Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Alfian explains that the suppliers from those cities smuggled the drugs through expedition service to various cities in Papua.
“However, throughout 2024, the amount of meth that we have found and secured is indeed not as much as other cities in Indonesia, which is only a kilogram,” noted Alfian.
Furthermore, Alfian says that there are 94 suspects in the drug criminal case with 56 cases reported and 46 cases completed. Then, meth secured in Papua are those from Jayapura, Mimika, Nabire, Merauke, Keerom, and Boven Digoel.
Alfian adds that throughout 2024, the transnational crimes recorded by the police are 252 cases with 204 handled completely. The transnational crimes occurred at 22 Sub-regional Police and Sub-regional City Police in four provinces of Papua, which are Papua, Papua Mountains, Central Papua, and South Papua.
“There are seven sub-regional police that have no report of drug transnational crimes which are the Lanny Jaya Sub-regional Police, Deiyai Sub-regional Police, Dogiyai Sub-regional Police, Intan Jaya Sub-regional Police, Yalimo Sub-regional Police, Puncak Sub-regional Police and Nduga Sub-regional Police,” concludes Alfian.
