Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Public Works and People's Housing (PUPR) has confirmed the safety of the Cisumdawu Tunnel on the Cileunyi - Sumedang - Dawuan toll road in the aftermath of the earthquake in Sumedang, West Java, on Monday (1/1/24). Ministry spokesperson Endra S Atmawidjaja stated that, following the seismic events on December 31, 2023, and January 1, 2024, a team from the Directorate General of Highways and the Road Bridge and Tunnel Safety Committee (KKJTJ) inspected the tunnel's condition. "Based on the initial inspection, no cracks were found on the concrete surface. The patterns resembling cracks observed in the tunnel are accumulations of dust and dirt adhering to the uneven concrete surface, creating an illusion of cracks on the wall," he clarified. Following a thorough post-earthquake inspection conducted by the Directorate General of Highways and KKJTJ, the tunnel has been officially declared entirely secure, he further affirmed. The 472-meter tunnel is part of the Cisumdawu Toll Road, located at Sta. 12+628 – Sta. 13+100 in Pamulihan and Cigendel Villages, Pamulihan District, Sumedang Regency, West Java. Classified as a Special Tunnel under Ministry Regulation No. 10 of 2022, it has received design approval and structural fitness recommendations from KKJTJ. (ar/inp/pr/nm)
