Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Home Affairs, as the adviser of the fire department, has given the instructions to all local governments of the importance of fire rescue and prevention and has asked the fire departments to thoroughly review their equipment.

This was conveyed by the Director General Regional Administrative Adviser, Safrizal Zakaria Ali in response to the two huge fire incidents in Glodok Plaza and Kemayoran settlement.

"I have asked the fire departments to inspect all the locations that are vulnerable to fire incidents and make sure every aspects of fire prevention and handling are met," said Safrizal on Wednesday (1/22/2025).

According to him, the fire incidents have reminded all partes to reevalute the prevention and mitigation of the disaster, particularly in cities full of settlements.

Moreover, local government is also tasked to immediately compile the fire resilience index so that they can assess the risk and their capacity in facing the challenges that may happen.

"Fire orevention and mitigation have to be the main priority, particularly in city area which has high vulnerability due to how densed the area," says Safrizal.

The ministry also highlights public empowerment programs through the formation of fire volunteers who can be used as an alternative in fire management.

Moreover, local governments will take various steps such as strengthening institutions, budget capacity, and strengthening prevention management such as optimizing early detection systems and adequate hydrant systems, especially in densely populated areas.
