Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Budi Arie Setiadi, has made it clear that the government will not tolerate cybercriminals, particularly those involved in data theft.
"The Ministry of Communication and Information has zero tolerance for any form of cybercrime. Protecting personal data is our top priority, and any violations will be dealt with strictly," he saidi emphasized on Monday (2/9/24).
His remarks came in response to a case of data theft involving a partner of the telecommunications provider Indosat Ooredoo.
The Minister has summoned Indosat Ooredoo’s leadership to discuss the data theft and ensure immediate corrective actions. "We have called Indosat’s management to address this issue and ensure prompt action is taken," he added.
Minister Budi also reminded all telecommunications providers of their responsibility to protect consumer data, maintain service quality, and adhere to all relevant laws.
"This includes the Telecommunications Law and the Personal Data Protection Law. Telecommunications companies must be fully accountable for the security of their customers' data. There is no room for compromise," he asserted.
