Non-Muslim Youths Assist in Guarding Takbiran Parade in Kupang

Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang.  Non-Muslim youths assisted in escorting the Takbiran night parade in Kupang city on Tuesday (9/4/2024), joining Christian and Hindu counterparts. Takbiran is a traditional event in Islam that typically takes place on the night before Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan. It involves chanting the takbir, which are declarations of the greatness of Allah. Alongside them, hundreds of personnel from the East Nusa Tenggara Regional Police and Kupang city Sub-regional Police were deployed to maintain security. "Tonight, we're securing the Takbir night, especially in Kupang city, with the participation of Christian and Hindu youth," said Senior Superintendent Restika Pardamean Nainggolan, the Director of Traffic for the East Nusa Tenggara Police. Chief Restika said the deployment of 168 personnel each from the task force of the East Nusa Tenggara Police and the Kupang Police to oversee the event. "Our personnel, from both units, are prepared to safeguard the Takbiran night," Chief Restika said. (mg/ri/hn/nm)
