North Kalimantan Police Collaborates with Indonesian Cyber Media Union for Safe 2024 Elections

Inp.polri.go.id – North Kalimantan. North Kalimantan Police along with Indonesian Cyber Media Union (SMSI) and Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) calls for peaceful 2024 General Elections. The Regional Supervision Inspector of North Kalimantan Police, Grand Commissioner Andria Martinus hopes that their collaboration with SMSI could prove impactful in maintaining states unity, particularly ahead 2024 Elections. “For that, we hope that journalist could provide and send the information to the public in accordance to proper journalism rules. In the future, I hope North Kalimantan SMSI would continue their support for the regional government,” says Martinus. Meanwhile the Assistant for Economy and Development of North Kalimantan Secretary Province, Dr. Bustan asked to for the new administrator to create a work program that could give a positive impact, not only to the organization but also to the development of online media in the region. In this digital era, the information flows freely which provides huge opportunities for people in expressing their knowledge, suggestions, and views on many topics. For that reason, SMSI has a pivotal role in ensuring media reporting an accurate, balanced, and proper information. “As an organization acknowledged by the press council, North Kalimantan SMSI has the responsibility not only to provide an accurate and objective information, but also maintain integrity of the journalism, ethics, truth and accountability," he explained. Ahead 2024 General Elections, North Kalimantan Government hopes that journalism could actively in contributing the success of 2024 General Elections. On this case, SMSI will cooperate with the police and the army. Meanwhile, the SMSI chair, Victor Ratu states the organization is ready to ensure elections would go smoothly, peaceful, and conducive. “Our strong cooperation with the police, the army, and the government will continue to be strengthened for the better of the region. Dozens of online media companies in North Kalimantan that are members of SMSI must be able to actively take part in safeguarding the elections, including as media police," he said. (ad/rz/pr/nm)
