inp.polri.go.id - Tarakan. The Head of North Kalimantan Regional Police, Inspector General Hary Sudwijanto officially opens the Tarakan Police Investigators Capacity Development at the Tarakan Plaza Hotel, Tarakan City on Wednesday (2/12/2025).
This activity is part of a program to improve the professionalism and synergy of law enforcement officers to strengthen a more transparent and accountable investigation system.
Hary explains that the activity is not only held in Tarakan Sub-regional Police but also other sub-regional police in North Kalimantan.
Increasing the capacity of investigators does not only focus on technical skills, but also on aspects of communication and multidisciplinary understanding of a legal case.
“This capacity development is not only about skill, but also on how to communicate, on how to see a legal case from many perspectives,” states Hary.
Hary also invites the NGO to be proactive in providing information about cases that are not properly handled. With good and intense communication between investigators and NGO, it is hoped that there will be a stronger chemistry between the two to further handle the cases.
He also acknowledged that there are still obstacles faced in the investigation process, one of which is the limited number of personnel at the North Kalimantan Regional Police, which is still relatively new.
“We only have a small number of personnel compared to the cases that we have received daily. Thus, through a forum such as this, we can discuss various effective legal steps, including the option of resolving cases through restorative justice, in accordance with applicable regulations," he concluded.
