Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communications and Informatics (Kemenkominfo) has blocked 846.047 online gambling contents in the period of 2018 to July 2023. The access shutdown was carried out based on the findings of the ministry's cyber patrol, public complaints, and from other ministries or institutions. "Since July 13-19, 2023, the ministry has shut down access to 11.333 online gambling contents," said Minister Budi Arie Setiadi on Thursday (20/7/23). He asserted that he would continue to take firm steps in dealing with the spread of content with online gambling content, both in the form of gambling content and online gambling transaction facilitation activities. If there are websites that contain gambling content, he added, then the ministry can immediately shut down access. While for gambling content found on social media platforms, the ministry will request the platform administrators to remove the content. "If the platforms refuse to remove the content, they will be subject to sanctions in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," he said. He also encouraged the public to report any instances of online gambling content they encounter and to utilize the internet in a more beneficial and productive manner. "The ministry will continue to monitor and shut down access to all forms of online gambling content dissemination," he concluded. (ndt/hn/um)
