Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Task Force for Combatting Human Trafficking Crimes (Satgas TPPO) of Indonesian National Police (INP) and regional police offices units under the leadership of the Chief of INP Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo have handled 699 Police Reports (LP) as of July 19, 2023
Head of the Public Affairs Bureau of INP Public Relations Division Police Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan shared that the Satgas TPPO has made significant progress, leading to the arrest of 829 suspects based on the reports they have handled.
"From the numerous LPs received, the task force has rescued 2.149 victims," he announced during a press conference on July 20, 2023.
The most prevalent modus operandi used by the suspects involves enticing victims with false promises of lucrative opportunities, particularly working as Indonesian migrant workers (PMI) or domestic workers (PRT), accounting for a total of 476 cases, he revealed.
"Additionally, there are 208 cases involving victims exploited as Commercial Sex Workers (PSK), 9 cases where they were made to work as Ship Crew Members (ABK), and 52 cases of exploitation of children," he added.
During the press conference, he also conveyed a message from the Chief of INP, urging the public not to easily fall for offers of high-paying jobs both domestically and abroad. The Chief of INP also emphasized, he said, the importance of verifying the legitimacy of labor supply companies to ensure the protection of individuals' social welfare and legal rights.
