Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A 5.3 magnitude earthquake struck Padang Sidempuan, Tapanuli Selatan, North Sumatra, on Thursday night (19/9/2024) at 11.14 pm.
The quake's epicenter was in the sea at a depth of 93 kilometers, located at coordinates 0.80° N, 98.68° E, about 91 kilometers southwest of Padang Sidempuan, according to antaranews.com.
The earthquake was also felt in Mandailing Natal and Nias Selatan, about 99 kilometers northeast of the epicenter. The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) has confirmed that the quake does not pose a tsunami threat.
