Papua Police Chief Sends Team to Assess Police Post 99 in Ndeotadi

Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri, the Chief of the Papua Regional Police, has dispatched a high-profile team to asses Police Post 99 in Ndeotadi Village, Paniai Regency, Central Papua. The team, including theĀ  Papua Police Mobile Brigade Commander, the Director of Operations, the Director of Criminal Investigation, and the Head of Internal Affairs, departed for Police Post 99 via Nabire on Saturday morning (23/3/2024). "They're en route to the scene," Chief Fakhiri said, as reported by antaranews.com The Damai Cartenz Task Force has been deployed due to repeated attacks on security forces and civilians. "They'll pursue the shooters, members of an armed criminal group led by Aibon Kogoya," he added. A recent attack on Police Post 99 in Ndeotadi claimed the lives of two police officers, Second Brigadier Sandi Defri Sayuri and Second Brigadier Arnaldobert Yawan. The group took two AK-47 rifles. During the attack, a civilian named Dani (52) was killed. Ndeotadi Village in Bayabiru District is known for illegal gold mining in Paniai Regency, Central Papua. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
