Papua Regional Police, Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri gave his appreciation to the people of Papua for smooth 2024 General Election process. “I convey my appreciation to the religious figure, people, and all parties including journalists for the secure Election,” said Fakhiri. He adds that, compared to the 2014 and 2019 General Election, the 2024 General Election is better in terms of security as only one region who was disturbed, even resulted in casualties. “We are thankful that the election process within the jurisdiction of Papua Regional Police goes safely. Although there is security in issue in one region, we managed to resolve it,” said Fakhiri. Furthermore, Fakhiri also remarks on the proactive role of local figures and journalists in creating a peaceful situation in Papua. The journalists, said Fakhiri, continue to report on actual and comforting news which aims to create a peaceful atmosphere in Papua. Fakhiri hopes that the safe and secure situation could be continuously maintained until the regional head election in November. (ad/ri/pr/nm)
