Inp.polri.go.id – Papua. The religious figure of Papua, Ismail Asso, gives his piece of thought regarding the 2024 General Election which draws closer. In his official statement, Ismail confidently says that the election in Papua will go smoothly and peacefully on Wednesday (1/17/2024). Ismail Asso implores all parties, particularly the participants, political parties, and the general public, to maintain peace and order to avoid conflicts amidst the difference in opinion. Ismail underscores the importance of awareness from all parties and to avoid inciting unrest to the public. “We implore all participants to avoid sparking conflicts, particularly regarding the verification and election results. I urge the political elite not to provoke the public and to maintain peace in Papua instead,” says Ismail. Acknowledging that there are risk potentials, Ismail also highlights the role of security officials in safeguarding Papua. He hopes that the collaboration between the police, military, and local figures could guide Papua far from conflicts. “We also remind you that your vote must be based on the quality and capability of the election candidates. Who would fight for justice, equality, and state prosperity, not for his own gains,” stressed Ismali.
