Inp.polri.go.id - Tanjung Selor.  The North Kalimantan Regional Police and the Royal Malaysian Police have come to an agreement to bolster prevention, surveillance, and response efforts against crimes occurring in the waters along the Indonesia-Malaysia border. "As law enforcement officers working across borders, we are committed to enhancing collaboration to prevent and address maritime crimes along the Indonesia-Malaysia border," said Senior Superintendent Bambang Wiriawan, the Director of the Water and AIr Police Directorate of the North Kalimantan Police, during a meeting in Nunukan on Tuesday (5/3/2024). The meeting, also known as a rendezvous (RV), was attended by the Police Attaché in Tawau, Nunukan Police Chief Superintendent Taufik Nurmandia, and the Malaysian Police representatives, antaranews.com reported. Key topics discussed included issues related to security and order in the maritime border region, such as drug trafficking, human smuggling, and the resolution of territorial disputes concerning seaweed cultivation. Chief Bambang said that the meeting symbolizes the synergy and coordination between the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Malaysian Police in safeguarding sovereignty and national interests at sea. The regular joint meetings between the Indonesian National Police (INP) and the Malaysian Police are conducted every three months to maintain the stability and security in the maritime border area between Indonesia and Malaysia, with a particular focus on North Kalimantan dan Sabah.
