inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The East Java Regional Police Cyber Crime Investigation Directorate uncovered the WhatsApp (WA) group "INFO VID" which was used to spread pornographic content and find gay partners.

From the disclosure of this case, the police has secured 4 suspects.

They are MI (21) a resident of Gubeng Surabaya, NZ (24) a resident of Tambaksari Surabaya, FS (44) a resident of Dukuh Pakis Surabaya and S (66) a resident of Jombang.

This was conveyed by the Head of Public Relations of the East Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Jules Abraham Abast, in his statement during a press conference on Friday (6/13/2025).

"The disclosure of this case began with the viral group of the Gay Tuban and Lamongan, Tuban and Bojonegoro Facebook group," said Abast.

Based on the results of the investigation, the suspects' modus operandi began in January 2025 when MI learned of the Facebook group "Gay Tuban-Lamongan-Bojonegoro" which discussed the search for same-sex partners.

"Suspect MI then commented on the post in the Facebook group and shared the WhatsApp group link of 'INFO VID' to gather more members," explained Abast.

After the group was formed, other suspects gradually joined. NZ joined in February 2025, FS in March 2025, and S in May 2025.

"The suspects then actively sent pornographic content under the pretext of looking for a partner," added Abast.

Head of Sub-directorate II of the Cyber Crime Directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Noviar Anindhita, said that there were 300 members in the WA INFO VID group.

In addition to securing the 4 suspects, the police also secured a number of pieces of evidence such as four cell phones, dozens of Facebook and WhatsApp social media accounts, and screenshots of pornographic content stored on the suspects' devices.

The suspects are threatened with a maximum imprisonment of 6 years and/or a maximum fine of IDR 1 billion. In addition, they can also be subject to imprisonment of 6 months to 12 years and/or a fine of IDR 250 million to IDR 6 billion.

This case shows the seriousness of the police in eradicating cybercrime, especially the spread of pornographic content that can damage morals and violate the laws in Indonesia.
