Head of Karawang Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Edward Zulkarnain explains that the two are the masterminds behind the assault. Edward says police are still developing the case and there are possibilities police may introduce new suspects in this case.

“Suspects blocked the cars at the location in the attempt to search for a priest, who was scheduled to attend a religious activity in one of Islamic Boarding Schools in Karawang,” explains Edward in a press conference on Friday (8/16/2024).

From the two suspects, police seized two motorbike helmets, one black vest, one camouflage shirt, one pair of Puma shoes, one Vespa motorbike, two black bags, one iPhone 11 Pro Max cell phone, as well as two identity cards (KTP) belonging to the perpetrators.

“Regarding their motive behind the attack, we still cannot determine it as of now. However, when we finally deduce the puzzle, we will announce it to the public,” says Edward.

The two suspects were charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code (KUHP), which regulates collective violence in public against people or property. They face prison sentences of up to 5 years and 6 months.
