inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police Trade Industry Sub-directorate buried four tons of mango sent from Thailand. The mangos were buried as the product was illegally imported to Indonesia

The Head of the North Sumatra Regional Police Public Information Sub-directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Siti Rohani Tampubolon says that the mangoes were seized near Belmera Toll Road Exit on Saturday (3/22/2025).

At that time, officers secured a truck unit with a driver named Aditya Triansyah, 31 years old, a resident of Tangga Batu Village, Hatonduhan District, Simalungun Regency.

In addition to the driver, officers also secured the truck's assistant, Daffa Ardana Siregar, 20 years old, a resident of Jalan Sei Batu- Batu, Bah Kapul Village, Siantar Sitalasari District, Pematangsiantar City.

She says that police successfully seized the illegal mangoes after intensive patrol on the road.

“When we were inspecting the truck, we found thousands of kilograms of mangoes placed in the fruit basket. We suspected that it was not sent according to procedure," she said, Monday (3/24/2025).

After being interrogated by the police, Adytia admitted to transporting the mangoes from a warehouse located in BatuBara Regency and planned to take them to Medan City.

When the police asked for the necessary documents, the driver could not show official documents related to mangoes. Officers then immediately secured all the mangoes.

"The destruction of the item was carried out as an effort to prevent the entry of Quarantine Plant Pest Organisms (OPTK) which can threaten public health and the sustainability of local plants," Siti said.

The truck driver and his assistant are suspected of violating Law Number 21 of 2019 concerning Quarantine and Government Regulation No. 29 of 2023. This is an administrative sanction for those responsible for transportation equipment that does not meet the provisions of quarantine regulations.

"We have currently secured the two perpetrators, to undergo further legal proceedings," Siti concluded.
