Inp.polri.go.id - Lumajang. The Lumajang Sub-regional Police in East Java have discovered 25,000 cannabis plants across 22 locations on Mount Semeru, following recent searches by a joint task force in the challenging terrain.
"Our teams discovered the cannabis farms," said Senior Inspector Jauhar Ma'arif, the Lumajang Police Head of operations, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The discovered plants were transported in 63 sacks. The police continue to scour the area, having divided into groups to cover more ground. In addition to live plants, police also found marijuana, or dried cannabis leaves, suggesting prior harvesting.
All seized items have been taken to the Lumajang Police for further investigation.
The police initially discovered 472 cannabis plants on 18 September 2024, followed by an additional 10,000 plants and 10 kilograms of ready-to-sell marijuana.
