Inp.polri.go.id - Sukabumi. The Sukabumi authorities found 24 of Rohingya people living in two rental houses in Cisolok, Sukabumi, West Java, on Sunday night (22/9/2024), following reports from local residents.
"We received information from the local residents about the presence of these foreign nationals. Upon inspection, we confirmed they are Rohingya," said Irvan Ruslandi, a government official from Cisolok, as quoted by antaranews.com.
During the inspection, five Rohingya individuals attempted to escape. Three were quickly detained, while two remain unaccounted for.
The Sukabumi Sub-regional Police and the Cisolok Police Office eventually moved them to to the Sukabumi Police headquarters in Palabuhanratu, Sukabumi, West Java, for questioning
Cisolok Police Chief Assistant Inspector Nandang Herawan said that the operation involved multiple officers to ensure security during the transfer.
The 24 Rohingya, including men, women, and children, had arrived via public bus from Sukabumi City. They intended to stay in the rental homes for five months.
