inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Directorate of Drug Investigation of Indonesian National Police (INP) Criminal Investigation Agency thwarts the stimulant drugs of Poppers with three suspects arrested.

The Director of Criminal Investigation Directorate, Brigadier General Mukti Juharsa reveals that investigators have seized 959 bottles and 710 boxes of Poppers. According to him, the drug has been banned by BPOM since 2021 October for containing isobutyl nitrite.

“These Poppers is a stimulant drug used by certain groups for sexual activities,” said the Director during a press conference in INP Grand HQ on Monday (7/22/2024).

According to him, the drug is dangerous as it could cause a stroke to heart attack and lead to death.

On the other hand, Mukti explains that the case uncovering began when police received information from the public regarding the drug flow in July 2024. Upon investigating the case, police arrested the first suspect, RCL, in Bekasi.

Following RCL examination, he admitted that he has sold the drugs from 2017 through the marketplace.

“He says that he imports the drugs from China,” said Mukti.

Police then continue to develop the case and arrest the two other suspects in Banten, MS and P. The two had sold Poppers from 2022 through Twitter and a social media called Horned, a social media used by the LGBTQ community.

“For their crimes, they will be charged with Article 435 of Law Number 17 of 2003 concerning Health carries a maximum prison sentence of 20 years," concluded the Director.
