inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The President Joko Widodo says the green economy gave a huge opportunity for Indonesia with the potentials in coconut, cocoa, vanilla, coffee, pepper and cloves.

“Green economy is our chance, a huge potential for our country, Indonesia,” says President Jokowi on Monday (7/22/2024).

Jokowi says that one of the potentials is in coconut commodities as Indonesia has 3.8 million hectare land of coconut fields with a production rate of 2.8 million tons per year.

This makes Indonesia ranked second in coconut world production, with most of its production coming from North Sulawesi and Riau Province.

“Our export value is also something that can’t be ignored as it reached 1.55 billion USD. This is a huge number and can still go up if we are serious in developing it,” said President Jokowi.

Through the huge potentials, Jokowi reminds that Indonesia must take a quick and determined actions in developing coconut commodity so that it would bring great benefit to the country.

According to him, the next step in developing the sector is through increasing the commodity productivity and developing the sector thoroughly to increase the value of the commodity.

“I invite the coconut international community to work together in developing a sustainable industry,” concluded Jokowi.
