Police intercept Smuggling of 24 Kg of Marijuana to Bangka

Inp.polri.go.id - Mentok. The West Bangka Sub-regional Police has intercepted an attempt to smuggle 24 kilograms of marijuana from Sumatra to Bangka through the Tanjungkalian Port in Mentok. "A combined team from the West Bangka Police and the Military Command has seized two suitcases containing 24.06 kilograms of marijuana on Tuesday night," said West Bangka Police Chief Superintendent Ade Zamrah on Thursday (1/2/2024) The Mentok Police Office received information about suspicious cargo sent by a passenger ship to the Tanjungkalian Port, bound for Pangkalpinang City, antaranews.com reported. The police officers found marijuana inside the two suitcases. "A team led by the Deputy Police Chief of West Bangka hunted the two suspects suspected to be the owners of the bags and found them around 5.30 pm at the gas station in Pangkalan Baru are," Chief Ade said. The two owners of the suitcases, identified as DS and SD, were arrested for questioning.  "Upon interrogation, the two suspects admitted that the two suitcases containing marijuana belonged to them. They also confessed that the items were obtained from a certain area in North Sumatra," he said. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
