inp.polri.go.id - Cianjur. The Cianjur Sub-regional Police have detained the Head of Mekargalih Village, Ciranjang District, TD, on suspicion of fraud and embezzlement amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah. The perpetrator faces dismissal.

The Head of the Cianjur Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Police Senior Inspector Fajri Amelia Putra, stated that TD was detained along with PA, a village official, who was also involved in the fraud and embezzlement. The perpetrator and his staff had borrowed money from a local resident.

"Currently, both are still undergoing questioning. Both were detained after being reported for fraud and embezzlement," he said, as reported by Antaranews, Thursday (1/15/2026).

He explained that his team is currently investigating and developing the report and statements from the perpetrators suspected of fraud and embezzlement, resulting in losses amounting to hundreds of millions of rupiah.

"We are still investigating and developing the victim's report against the two perpetrators," he explained.

The victim's attorney, Aang Jaelani, stated that the complaint against the village head and his staff began when they failed to return the IDR 300 million borrowed, claiming that the Village Funds had not yet been disbursed, while the program had to continue.

The two promised to provide the remaining funds when the funds were disbursed, as the community assistance program needed to be implemented immediately so that the Village Funds could be disbursed in 2020. However, the funds had not been returned by 2025.

"Our client approached the perpetrator several times, but he never repaid the money he borrowed. He even asked for the money to be returned in full, without asking for the remaining funds," he explained.

He added that, due to the lack of assurance, his client finally reported the matter to the police. "Because there was no good faith, we finally reported the two to the Cianjur Police," Aang explained.

Meanwhile, Dendi Kristanto, Secretary of the Cianjur Village Community Empowerment Agency (DPMD), said his office immediately appointed an interim official to replace the village head who had been temporarily suspended due to his involvement in the case.
