Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Penjaringan Metropolitan Police Office, North Jakarta, offered trauma support to survivors of the fire in Pejagalan, Penjaringan, on Wednesday morning

“This is our way of showing empathy and support as state officials for those affected by the fire,” said Penjaringan Police Chief Inspector Ady Agus Wijaya on Thursday (15/8/2024).

Besides distributing food and drinks, the police provided trauma healing sessions at the temporary shelters. Female officers organized activities like games, storytelling, and small group talks to help residents, especially children, cope with the incident, according to antaranews.com.

Police and military personnel continue to guard the area to ensure safety and comfort for both survivors and the community.

“We are here to provide a sense of security for everyone involved,” Chief Ady added.

The fire, believed to be caused by an electrical short circuit, destroyed 120 semi-permanent homes and 35 stalls. The investigation is ongoing.

Local health officials also conducted medical check-ups for the displaced residents.
