Police Successfully Reveal Illegal Logging Case in Ambawang

On September 7, 2022, the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit found a truck with S 8932 NC license number loaded with processed wood at CV. Sumber Mandiri Abadi which was located on Jl.Trans Kalimantan Km 46, Teluk Bakung Village, Sungai Ambawang District, Kubu Raya Regency. After inspection, the wood cargo are accompanied by illegal documents and the wood came from a location that does not have a logging concession permit. "The method is to use processed wood transportation documents in the form of a Timber Certificate - Processed Wood (SKSHHK - KO) repeatedly," said the Head of Public Information Bureau, Public Relations Division of the Police. "The wood is transported from Ketapang to Kubu Raya, for further processing and will be exported to Europe and South Korea," added the Director of Special Crime of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. In this case, the article that was violated was Article 88 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 16 of Law No. 18 of 2013 concerning the prevention of forest destruction as amended by Law No. 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. With the threat of imprisonment for a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 15 years and also a minimum fine of 5 billion Rupiah and a maximum of 15 billion Rupiah. "We will investigate this case while continuing it with the crime of Money Laundering," said the Head Head of Sub Directorate Three in Special Crime Directorate of the National Police Headquarters.
