inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Communication and Information Minister Budi Arie Setiadi threatens to block Bigo Live app and will take legal steps following the discovery of online gambling and pornography content in the app.

“If they are not showing good cooperation with us to resolve the issue of online gambling and pornography, then we will take legal steps according to the applicable law,” warned Minister Budi.

The Ministry has sent its second warning letter to the Bigo Technology Indonesia company on August 21st, 2024 following the online gambling and pornography content findings in the app. Through the letter, the ministry conveyed that the company must delete all negative contents that circulate in their app.

“Bigo Live also has to improve their moderation system to prevent the negative content from reoccurring,” quote the letter.

Previously, the Communication and Information Ministry was on cyber patrol and found 121 accounts linked to online gambling activities in the Bigo Live app. Moreover, the patrol unit also found 32 pornography related content on August 15th-18th, 2024.

Following the findings, the ministry sent their first warning letters to the company on July 16th and the second letter was delivered on August 21st.
