“If they lied about the contents of the cooking oil, they can be charged with Law Number 8. As previously mentioned by the Food Task Force Chief, they can be imprisoned for five years and fined for IDR 2 billion,” says the Director General of Consumer Protection and Trade Order of the Ministry of Trade on Wednesday (3/12/2025).
On this occasion, he emphasized that this regulation is in accordance with Ministry of Trade Regulations Number 18 of 2024. Defecting product contents and sizes also violates Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection.
The policy regulates sanctions for business actors who sell products that do not match the packaging label. If proven to have violated, they will be prosecuted without exception.
Furthermore, he also reminded traders not to carry out fraudulent practices. The government will continue to monitor the distribution of MinyaKita so that it is in accordance with its standard.
