Riau Island Regional Police Uncovers 19 Drug Cases in a Month

inp.polri.go.id - Batam. The Riau Island Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate held a press conference to announce drug criminal cases uncovering from June to July. The press conference in Riau Island Regional Police Main Lobby also to terminate the drug evidence seized by the police.

During the one month period, Riau Island Regional Police has successfully disclosed 19 drug cases with total suspects of 25. The evidence confiscated included 13,423.64 grams of methamphetamine, 1,038.32 grams of dried marijuana, 34 grams of ecstasy, and 0.30 grams of LSD (Lysergic Acid Diethylamide).

From the 19 cases, five cases stood out amongst them, with three cases uncovered by Riau Island Regional Police, one is through cooperation between Riau Regional Police and Anambas Sub-regional Police, while the other one is uncovered thanks to cooperation between Batam Customs and Hang Nadim Batam Airport Aviation Security.

The Vice Director of Riau Island Regional Police Drug Criminal Investigation, Superintendent Tidar Wulung Dahono says that the termination of the drug evidence demonstrates police commitment in its war against drugs.

“This step hopefully could give a deterrent effect for drug criminals and boost public awareness with the dangers of the drugs. This activity also demonstrates our firm resolve in protecting the people from drugs and strengthening our law enforcement against drug flows,” conclude Tidar.
