Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang.  The Maumere Search and Rescue Agency has officially ended the search for Yi Liu, a 27-year-old Chinese tourist who went missing on October 3, 2023, while visiting Long Pink Beach in Komodo National Park, Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara. The decision to close the search operation on the seventh day follows the guidelines of Article 34 of Law No. 29 of 2017 on Search and Rescue,  which sets a maximum search period of seven days. Despite extensive search efforts by a joint search and rescue team, which included sea and land searches, the challenging ocean currents hampered progress. "If the victim is found in the future, we will reopen the SAR operation," Supriyanto Ridwan, the Head of Maumere Search and Rescue Agency, was quoted by antaranews.com as saying on Monday (9/10/2023) The search of the Chinese tourist involved various agencies, including the West Manggarai Search and Rescue Post, East Nusa Tenggara Regional Water Police Division, Labuan Bajo Naval Base, Labuan Bajo Port Authority, West Manggarai Sub-regional Police, and local fishermen. Despite seven days of searching using rescue boats, no trace of the missing Chinese tourist was found. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
