Chief of the Damai Cartenz  Task Force Senior Superintendent Faizal Rahmadani revealed that the armed criminal group (KKB) member killed in a shootout at Kali Brasa, Dekai, was identified as Otniel Giban, also known as Bolong Giban. The identitify of Otniel,  an active member of the Ndugama KKB Battalion under the leadership of Yotam Buriangge,  was confirmed following investigations into the shootout at Kali Brasa on Thursday. Apart from the demise of Otniel Giban, two other KKB members were arrested, and 74 assorted caliber ammunition were seized, sChief Faizal said in a statement on Saturday (24/2/2024). The joint operation, involving the Damai Cartenz Task Force and the 7th Marine Infantry Task Force, was a response to reports of aircraft shooting incidents involving a Wings Air plane. Chief Faizal said that Otniel has been on the wanted list of the Yahukimo Regional Police since August 2022 due to his involvement in 10 criminal cases. Yotam Buriangge, a former member of the Indonesian Military from Yonif 756/MWS, has been on the run since December 2021, carrying an SS 1 type firearm. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
