South Korean Detained for Alleged Fake KITAP Usage

Inp.polri.go.id - Mataram.  The Immigration Civil Servant Investigator (PPNS Keimigrasian) has enthrusted the West Nusa Tenggara Regional Police for the detention of a South Korean man,  identified as GMB, who has been named a suspect for using a counterfeit Permanent Stay Permit Card (KITAP), "With his designation as a suspect on Tuesday, we plan to place him in the West Nusa Tenggara Police Detention Center. This is under coordination with the Police's supervisory unit," Parlindungan, the Head of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights Regional Office in the province, said on Wednesday (24/1/2024) GMB is accused of violating the Immigration Law, which  carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and a fine of Rp 500 million, antaranews.com reported. Parlindungan emphasized that the legal process for GMB would proceed to a trial, and if convicted, deportation to his home country would follow. GMB 's passpor had expired in 2018 and had been using a fake KITAP since 2021. He had been in Indonesia to engage in property business, starting in 2017 in the Bogor area and expanding to Bali and Lombok. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
