Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Erick Thohir announced on Tuesday (17/12/2024) plans to merge PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) and PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) to streamline operations and reduce logistics costs.
“This move will lower logistics expenses, enhance passenger safety, and synchronize services for passengers and goods, which are often separated,” he said, confirming that Pelindo would act as the holding company in this consolidation.
The initiative is part of the ministry’s broader strategy to optimize SOE efficiency. Since taking office in 2019, Minister Erick has reduced the number of state-owned enterprises from 142 to 107 and aims to further cut this to 30 core companies, according to antaranews.com..
He emphasized that SOEs must uphold three pillars: maintaining financial health to contribute taxes and dividends, supporting economic growth, and driving grassroots economic development.
Currently, 92% of Indonesia’s ultra-micro and microcredit is distributed by state-owned enterprises.
The restructuring aligns with the ministry's plan of building a leaner and more impactful state-owned enterprises sector to better serve national economic interests
