Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Sultan B Najamudin has been elected as the Chair of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) for the 2024-2029 term, following a voting session in a plenary meeting held at the Nusantara V Building in Jakarta early Wednesday (2/10/2024).
The former DPD Vice Chair secured 95 votes, defeating former DPD Chair La Nyalla Mattalitti, who received 56 votes.
"Sultan Najamudin has been appointed as the elected Chair of the DPD," interim DPD Vice Chair Larasati Moriska said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The voting was conducted with 151 DPD members present, although only 150 valid votes were counted. Despite this discrepancy, members requested the meeting to proceed with the vote counting.
Sultan Najamudin’s leadership team includes three Vice Chairs: Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hemas, Yorrys Raweyai, and Tamsil Linrung. The other leadership package featuring La Nyalla Mattalitti and three Vice Chair candidates—Nono Sampono, Elviana, and Andi Muh Ihsan—was not selected.
In his vision and mission, Sultan emphasized his commitment to innovation and inclusivity within the DPD as Indonesia approaches its Golden Era in 2045.
