Joint forces from the Water and Air Police and General Criminal Investigation Directorate of Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police have declared seven suspects in the case of alleged violation and destruction of Citra Bangka Lestari Production Suction Vessel (KIP CBL) in Air Antu waters, Riausilip district, Bangka regency.
The seven suspects are Suhardi aka Ngikiw, Heri Susanti aka Nawi, Edi Hawanto aka Ahaw, Panisila aka Renyek, Haryadi aka Beje, Arman Juriadi, and Yuliantara aka Kadir.
The seven suspects are arrested in several locations. Some are picked up in their home.
Police also seized evidence such as one KIP CBL, a CCTV receiver, 100 logs, pelawan wood, one oil pump, one clock, two pieces of a light bulb, two pieces of CCTV camera, one wooden bowl, one hoe handle, one broom, and one jerrycan.
Chief of Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police, Police Inspector General Anang Syarif Hidayat, admits that seven detained people are strongly suspected to be involved in criminal acts of violence against people or goods and destruction.
"The seven people are now arrested and declared as suspects. They are now detained in Bangka Belitung Islands Regional Police Headquarter after it is stated that there is sufficient evidence and fulfils the criminal element", the Chief of Regional Police said on Tuesday afternoon (20/7/2021).
According to the Chief of Regional Police, the suspects' modus operandi is they first departed from Air Antu beach by boat to board the KIP CBL. After arriving there, they went up and conducting violence and destruction on all ship's parts with wood or iron.
"In consequence to the action, KIP CBL's management is experiencing estimated loss of Rp8.7 billion", Chief of Regional Police said.
He admits that more suspects may be arriving due to the developing investigation process.
"This is just temporary. It is possible for the suspects to add because the investigation is still ongoing", Chief of Regional Police affirms.
The Police also still investigating the main actor behind this case.
"Either someone become an actor of this incident, we are still investigating on it. Whoever and wherever they are, we will chase them because this is a purely criminal act", Chief of Regional Police.
For the Chief of Regional Police, this kind of action cannot be silenced because it opens the possibility to spread out. Therefore, law enforcement efforts must be prioritised.
"This kind of action cannot be silenced. Bangka Belitung islands must be conducibe. If we silent on this, it could spread anywhere", Chief of Regional Police said.
