Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Navy is set to bolster its capabilities with two 70-meter Fast Attack Crafts (KCR) constructed by Turkey’s Sefine Shipyard, a part of a consortium with TAIS Shipyard.
THe Navy Head of Public Information First Admiral I Made Wira Hady Arsanta Wardhana confirmed on Thursday (31/10/2024) that the first steel-cutting ceremony for the vessels occurred on October 30, 2024, at Sefine Shipyard in Altinova, Turkey.
“It marks a significant milestone in our naval modernization efforts,” he said, as reported by antaranews.com.
The KCRs will boast advanced combat capabilities, high speeds of over 40 knots, and the ability to accommodate 43 personnel.
The Ministry of Defense has not yet revealed contract values or details about technology transfer agreements but expressed confidence in the quality and timely completion of the ships.
The partnership emphasizes a commitment to enhancing regional security and stability, with gratitude extended to Turkish officials for their support in this initiative.
