The Police Chief arrived at 10:00 WITA at the location, accompanied by Traffic Police and Provos personnel. No information was given by the Police Chief to the media crew. He immediately left the Air and Water Police Command Headquarters after about thirty minutes of reviewing the location. Previously, in a statement via telephone, the Director of Water and Air Police of Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Suryo Aji, said the explosion came from the building of where a fish bomb was stored. "Thirty jerry cans of ammonium nitrate, well, the fish bombs, was stored there where the fishermen used to catch fish. The cause of why it was exploded, it was still being investigated by INAVIS," said the Director of the Air and Water Police of the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police. As a result of this explosion, several houses on Bhayangkara Bahari Street, Poasia Village, were seriously damaged.
