Inp.polri.go.id - Balikpapan. Three aircraft from the Indonesian Air Force have conducted runway trials at the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) Airport on 14, 15 and 20 September 2024 respectively.

Air Force Chief of Staff Marshal M. Tonny Harjono said on Sunday (22/9/2024) that the tests included both landing and takeoff maneuvers, all of which proceeded smoothly.

The runway measures 2,200 meters long and 30 meters wide, with a 7.5-meter shoulder and a taxiway of 153 by 23 meters. The asphalt runway allows aircraft to brake effectively within the designated distance, according to antaranews.com.

The aircraft involved were the Casa 212/A-2104, CN 295/A-2905, and Hercules C130/A-1338. The Casa 212 was piloted by Major Susilo Adisaputro, Captain Faizal Fibriyan, First Lieutenant Luthfian Dwi Parendahsyah, and Second Lieutenant M. Tsalis Fahmi.

Following this, the CN 295 aircraft was flown by Lieutenant Colonel Fitrianto Ali Ngimron and his team. The final test featured the Hercules C130, piloted by Lieutenant Colonel A. Muh Averroes and Captain Gustine Rossyan.

The Ministry of Transportation has conducted a calibration of the new capital's airport facilities and equipment to ensure they meet flight safety standards.
