Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. All 42 passengers, including the pilot and co-pilot, of the Trigana plane that skidded off the runway at Kamanap Airport, Serui, Papua, have been evacuated to Serui Regional Hospital (RSUD).
Papua Regional Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo, confirmed on Monday (9/9/2024) that all passengers survived the incident and are now receiving medical care.
"The aircraft remains at the site awaiting evacuation by the relevant authorities," he said, as quoted by antaranews.com.
The plane was en route from Kamanap Airport to Jayapura when it skidded during takeoff at 8.35 am local time on Monday. The passengers included the Acting Chairperson of Papua's Family Welfare Empowerment Mobilization Team (TP PKK), Kerdina Limbong, and Acting Yapen Islands Regent, Suzana Wanggai.
The aircraft sustained significant damage after failing to take off and veering off the runway.
The total weight onboard was reported as 270 kilograms with a balance factor of 2,000 kilograms.
