Inp.polri.go.id - Denpasar.  The Denpasar Immigration Office in Bali investigated two Australians suspected of violating immigration regulations by operating a medical practice, an official said on Friday (29/12/2023) "We are currently conducting an investigation into these two foreign nationals," said Head of the Denpasar Immigration Office, Tedy Riyandi. The two Australian nationals, identified as NP and NJ, a married couple holding Limited Stay Permits (KITAS) as investors, are suspected of running a medical practice in Denpasar, antaranews.com reported. Referring to Law Number 17 of 2023 on health, Tedy emphasized the strict regulations regarding foreign nationals working in the medical field. The law categorizes two criteria for foreign nationals practicing in the country: foreign medical and health professionals who are graduates of domestic institutions and those who are graduates of foreign institutions. "According to Article 246, foreign medical and health professionals who graduated domestically and practice in Indonesia must have a registration certificate (STR) and a practice permit (SIP)," he explained. Tedy added that they can only practice upon the request of healthcare facilities for a specific period. Further details, including specific time limits, are regulated more extensively by government regulations. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
