Inp.polri.go.id - Sugapa.  A clash between Mobile Brigade officers and the armed criminal group (KKB) in Sugapa, Intan Jaya, resulted in the death of one child and injured another on Monday evening (8/4/2024). The confrontation erupted around 2 pm when the KKB opened fire on the Mobile Brigade post near the Regional Development Bank (BPD) Papua office in Sugapa. In response, our members engaged in a gunfight, as reported by antaranews.com. Intan Jaya Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Afrizal Asri, explained, "Two children were shot, one of whom tragically lost his life". Nando Duwitau (12) succumbed to his injuries, while Nopina Duwitau (6) sustained gunshot wounds to the wrist, resulting in the severance of her thumb. Nopina is currently receiving treatment at the Bilogai Community Health Center, while Nando's family has made arrangements for his burial. Chief Afrizal added that the assailants, purportedly subordinates of Undius Kogoya, are believed to be responsible for the attack. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
